“Psyche Relics: An Exhibition Journal” documents my solo exhibit at Gallery 411 in Columbus, IN (May 2024). Released by PathBinder Publishing on March 7, 2025, books can be purchased online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Photographs by local photographer Cole Ankney of Triflix, LLC.
Drawings and sculptural works expressing the artist’s medical psychiatric journey are paired with personal journal entries about her experiences. Like artifacts, art objects (such as charcoal self-portraits on pharmacy instruction paper) document psychiatric treatment over 30 years. They reveal the invisible experience of mental health treatment and a desire to express its impact. Symbolic drawing and sculpture illustrate healing from dark distress toward serenity. Aspects of treatment such as journals, individual and group therapy, electroconvulsive therapy, and medication trials are explored with gratitude and good humor.
Exhibition was a partnership between the artist, the Columbus Area Arts Council and Mental Health Matters Bartholomew County.
